Bingo No-Nos
There are certain things you need to remember when playing bingo – not the least of which is calling out ‘bingo’ when (and only when) you know you have won. Premature calling will earn you anything from a quick glance, to a laugh, to a tirade of abuse. It can break the concentration of more serious players and make you an outcast from the tight-knit and competitive community that is bingo.
Another bingo no-no is talking excessively during the game. Again, bingo halls can house some serious bingo aficionados, and listening to someone else’s mindless chatter can put people off. Common courtesy prevails, and the middle of a tense game is not the place the discuss last night’s date or tomorrow’s doctor’s appointment, especially if your friend is clear across the room.
No-one likes a bad loser, and the same can be said about winners. Remember you’re there for fun above all, and if you win or lose, do it graciously. Streaking naked is not appreciated whether you win or lose, nor is high-fiving everyone on your table.
More important is adhering to the hall’s rules and regulations. While eating and drinking may be allowed at the tables your local bingo room, some people might not appreciate having their bingo cards covered in coffee or sandwich crumbs. Similarly, bringing a plate might be expected, or attending on a ladies’ day might be frowned upon. Take note of the local laws and stick to them, or you might not be welcomed back!
